Rathna Eco Club

Rathna Eco Club is established to create environmental awareness among student and local community and encourage students in involving conducting events in protecting the earth. As the population and human advancement tends to grow, its byproducts results in difficulty in sustaining green and living earth for all organisms. In this regards, students are encouraged to conduct activities like water conservation, cleaning of campus and surrounding, planting trees. In addition, Rathna Eco Club oraganizes ‘Vanamahotsava’, Deepavali, Onam Celebration, Medicial plant exhibition, Flower arrangement competition in school campus.

Last year, Rathna Eco Club has organized ‘Environment Day’ on 5th of June, 2015. The event involved creating environment awareness and planting small plants in school garden with the help of teachers, staff and students. This is a small gesture that intends to encourage the habit of planting trees and caring for nature around us.

On 4th of July 2015, ‘Vanamahotsava Day’ was conducted at VidyaRathna School celebrating the responsibility of protecting the forest and green earth. The event involved garden and campus cleaning activities by members of the club and read out by member of Eco Club on activities encouraging sustainable earth. The program was inaugurated by VidyaRathna School President K. Ravindra Shetty by planted a Sapota plant in school garden.

The school also conducted ‘Malaria and Dengue Awareness Walk’ to create awareness in local community and educate people on avoiding mosquito growth in local region. The club is also responsible for creating ‘Medicinal Plant Exhibition’ where members of the club collected exhibited various trees and plant leaves and articles along with their scientific name, description and details in school auditorium.

The winners of the competition of ‘Medical Plant Exhibition’ were:

For class VI & VII category; 1st prize won by Sinchana & Group and 2nd prize won by Vrushali & Group. For class VIII to X category; 1st prize won by Hemanth & Group (Class X-B), 2nd prize won by Sandesh Urs & Group (Class IX-B) and 3rd prize won by Dheeraj P.S & Group (Class X-A).
