School Life

VidyaRathna English Medium School is home to more than 1,000 students from Hindu, Muslim, Konkani, Christian community. Our pupils speak English, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu, Byari, Hindi, Konkani, Urdu languages. This diverse community of pupils comes together at VidyaRathna school in the path of learning knowledge and acquiring wisdom to shape their future.

We emphasize excellence in academic studies as well as student activities in campus. We are involving all the pupils in curricular and co-curricular activities. Our students has consistently performed at highest standards in SSLC examinations every year. This has created a learning atmosphere that encourage shared learning and acquiring new skills.

Apart from studies, students can participate in various school clubs that contributes to the overall personality growth of pupils. School is home to Rathna Eco club, Science club, Literacy club, Cultural club, Interact club, Sports club, Scouts & Guides, Bunnies and Cubs & Bulbuls association. Rathna Eco club focus on environment, cleanliness, mother earth that enriches life. Last year, the club has organized Environment day celebration, Vanamahotsava, Deepavali, Onam celebration, medicinal plant exhibition, flower arrangement competition among other events.

Literacy club provides platform for literary activities like Cultural day, folklore arts events, ‘Aatidonja Dina’ and includes events like Gandhi Jayanthi celebration, Literacy day. Social club encourages students to conduct community activities and social responsibility events in school campus and in local region around school. Science club helps student learn building models, structures and science experiments. In addition, it organizes Children’s Day, Ramzan celebration, visit to Science Center at Pilikula activities.

Sports club engaged in various sports competition oriented activities, sports inventory management and games room maintenance activities. In addition, school has Karate club which has 2 weekly classes for its members. Currently it has 80 member students. Our High school students visited Oddoor Dairy Farm and Science Center at Pilikula as academic visits to explore learning beyond classrooms.

In addition, school provides proactive platform for competitive activities that enriches student life in school. Our students ranked 1st in Kolata, ‘Pooja Kunita’ at State level ‘Pratibha Karanji Utsava’ in multiple occasions. One of our scout Abhilesh M. has received Rashtrapathi award from President of India Honorable Pranabh Mukharji in Delhi. Our Scouts & Guides group has participated in National Jamburi held in Mysore in the current academic year 2016-2017.

School has created Tunga, Netravathi, Kaveri and Krishna student groups with its own uniforms. Pupils engage in various activities in these groups. Every year, student elects and participates in parliamentary election and selection of school ministers which helps them learn about the political process and working of democratic society. Under Indian Governments ‘Right to Education Act’, 25% of the seats are allocated for students with financially poor background.

Culture diversity and unity are not only encouraged in VidyaRathna School, but also celebrated in various events that encourages students to learn and be part of it. Our annual day celebration is a involves various cultural performance and talent recognition acts that defines our school heritage of inclusiveness and diversity and that pupils are a part of a bigger family.
